Wardell Raymond Cheeks (born January 14, 1980), better known by his stage name Ray Cash, is an American rapper from Cleveland, Ohio. He became known for his Midwest hip hop style in the mid-2000s.

Early Life and Musical Start
Ray Cash, whose real name is Wardell Cheeks, grew up in Cleveland. During high school, he loved to perform freestyle raps. His friends would create beats for him by drumming on lunchroom tables.
A turning point for Cheeks was seeing the famous rapper Jay-Z in concert. After watching the show, he knew he wanted to become a professional musician.
Music Career
Debut Album and Mainstream Success
As Ray Cash, he released his first singles in 2005. One of his songs, "... Appeal," became a local hit and was played on the radio. By 2006, the song's music video was shown on TV channels like MTV and BET. He was also featured in the popular XXL magazine.
To support his first album, Cash on Delivery, he toured with the rap group Mobb Deep. The album was released on June 27, 2006. It was a success, reaching number 41 on the Billboard 200, a chart that tracks the most popular albums in the U.S.
His next big single was "Bumpin' My Music," which featured the legendary rapper Scarface. In 2006, this song climbed to number 56 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop charts.
Later Albums
After the success of his first album, Ray Cash began working on his second one, Rosé Ray. It was released on September 30, 2009. The album included the song "Certified," which featured fellow Cleveland artist Darren Anthony and the rapper Curren$y.
He later released a track called "... I'm Wrong." Over the next few years, he continued to release more music for his fans.
