Raymond Epps's Basketball Journey

Raymond Epps was born in Amelia, Virginia, on August 20, 1956. He grew up loving basketball and played for George Wythe High School in Richmond. After high school, he went on to play college basketball at Norfolk State University.

Joining the NBA

In 1977, Raymond Epps decided to leave college early. He was chosen by the Golden State Warriors in the fifth round of the 1977 NBA Draft. This was a big step for him, as he was joining one of the top basketball leagues in the world.

During the 1977–78 NBA season, Raymond Epps faced a challenge. He was unable to play any games because of an injury. It was a tough start to his professional career.

Playing for the Warriors

The next season, 1978–79 NBA season, Epps finally got to play for the Golden State Warriors. He played in 13 games and scored a total of 26 points. In December 1978, he left the team. Another player, Raymond Townsend, took his spot.

Time in the WBA

After leaving the NBA, Raymond Epps joined the Montana Sky team. This team was part of the Western Basketball Association (WBA). The WBA was a new league, and this was its first and only season.

Epps started playing for the Montana Sky in January 1979. However, his time there was short. Less than a month later, he was suspended from the team. This happened after he had an argument with the team's coach, Rex Hughes.
