Ray Michael McCallum Jr. (born June 12, 1991) is an American professional basketball player. He currently plays for the Taipei Taishin Mars in Taiwan. Ray is the son of college basketball coach Ray McCallum.
In 2013, he was named the best player in the Horizon League college basketball conference. He led the league in scoring, averaging 18.7 points per game. He also helped his team, the Detroit Titans, get into a big tournament called the 2013 National Invitation Tournament. On June 27, 2013, the Sacramento Kings picked him in the NBA draft.

Ray's High School Basketball Journey
Ray McCallum Jr. started his high school basketball career in Bloomington, Indiana. He played his first two years at Bloomington High School North. Later, he moved to Detroit Country Day School in Detroit, Michigan, for his last two years.
In his senior year (2009–2010), Ray led Detroit Country Day to a state championship win. In the final game, he scored 32 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and made seven steals. That season, he averaged 22.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game.
Ray was recognized as one of the top high school players in the country. He was named to the Parade All-American team and was a McDonald's All-American. He even played in the 2010 McDonald's All-American Boys Game. Experts like ESPN.com ranked him as a top point guard and one of the best players in his class.
Ray's College Basketball Career
Ray McCallum Jr. decided to play college basketball at the University of Detroit Mercy. He chose this school because his father, Ray McCallum, was the head coach there. Many other big schools like UCLA and Arizona wanted him to play for them.
Freshman Year Success (2010–2011)
In his first year (freshman season), Ray became the first player from the University of Detroit to be named to an all-conference team in the Horizon League. He led his team in scoring, assists, and steals. He was also named to the Freshman All-America team by CollegeInsider.com. Ray had an amazing game against Youngstown State, almost getting a triple-double with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists.
Sophomore Year Highlights (2011–2012)
Ray continued his strong performance in his second year (sophomore season). He averaged 15.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game. He earned first-team all-conference honors. His team finished with a 22–14 record and made it to the first round of the NCAA tournament.
Junior Year and Top Honors (2012–2013)
In his third year (junior season), Ray was named the Horizon League Men's Basketball Player of the Year. He was the first player since 2001 to earn this honor both before and after the season. He led the conference in scoring with 18.7 points per game. The team finished with a 20–13 record and played in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT).
Ray's Professional Basketball Journey
After his junior year, Ray McCallum Jr. decided to enter the 2013 NBA draft. The Sacramento Kings picked him as the 36th overall player.
Playing for the Sacramento Kings (2013–2015)
Ray signed with the Kings in July 2013. He also spent some time playing for the Reno Bighorns in the NBA Development League (now called the G League). This league helps players get more experience. On April 2, 2014, he scored a career-high 27 points in a game against the Los Angeles Lakers.
In July 2014, Ray helped the Kings win the 2014 NBA Summer League championship. He was even named the MVP (Most Valuable Player) of the championship game.
Time with the San Antonio Spurs (2015–2016)
In July 2015, Ray was traded to the San Antonio Spurs. He played his first game for the Spurs on October 30. During his time with the Spurs, he also played for their G League team, the Austin Spurs. He was later waived by the Spurs in February 2016.
Brief Stint with the Memphis Grizzlies (2016)
In March 2016, Ray signed a short contract with the Memphis Grizzlies. He helped the team when many players were injured. He played well in his debut, scoring 13 points.
Playing in the G League and Overseas (2016–Present)
After his time in the NBA, Ray continued his career in the NBA G League and played for many teams around the world.
