Ray Michael McCallum Jr. (born June 12, 1991) is an American professional basketball player. He currently plays for the Taipei Taishin Mars team in Taiwan. Ray is a point guard, which means he helps lead his team's offense and brings the ball up the court.
In 2013, Ray was named the best player in the Horizon League, a college basketball conference. He led his team, the Detroit Titans, in scoring with 18.7 points per game. He also had great stats in assists, rebounds, and steals. Later that year, the Sacramento Kings picked him in the 2013 NBA draft.

High School Basketball Journey
Ray McCallum Jr. started his high school basketball career in Bloomington, Indiana. He played for two years at Bloomington High School North.
Then, he moved to Detroit, Michigan, and played for Detroit Country Day School for his last two years. In his senior year (2009–2010), Ray led his team to win a state championship! In the final game, he scored 32 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, and made 7 steals. That season, he averaged 22.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game.
Ray was a top player in high school. He was named to important All-State teams and was considered one of the top 50 players in the country. He was also a McDonald's All-American, which means he was one of the best high school players chosen to play in a special game. ESPN.com ranked him as the 5th best point guard in the nation for his age group.
College Basketball Experience
Ray chose to play college basketball at the University of Detroit Mercy. He wanted to play for his father, Ray McCallum, who was the head coach of the Detroit Titans. Many other big schools like UCLA and Arizona wanted him, but he picked Detroit Mercy.
Freshman Year (2010–2011)
In his first year, Ray became the first player from Detroit Mercy to be named to an All-Horizon League Team as a freshman. He was a second-team honoree. He led his team in scoring (13.5 points per game), assists (4.9 per game), and steals. He was also named to the Freshman All-America team by CollegeInsider.com. Ray's 157 assists that season were the second-highest among all freshmen in the NCAA.
Sophomore Year (2011–2012)
Ray continued to play well in his second year. He averaged 15.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. He earned first-team all-conference honors. His team finished with a 22–14 record and made it to the first round of the NCAA tournament.
Junior Year (2012–2013)
In his junior year, Ray was named the best player in the Horizon League before the season started, and he earned that honor again at the end of the season. He led the conference in scoring with 18.7 points per game. Even though his team didn't win the conference tournament, they still played in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT). They ended the year with a 20–13 record.

NBA Career Highlights
After his junior year, Ray decided to enter the 2013 NBA draft. The Sacramento Kings picked him as the 36th overall player. He signed with the Kings in July 2013.
During his time with the Kings, he sometimes played for their minor league team, the Reno Bighorns, in the NBA Development League. On April 2, 2014, he had his best game, scoring 27 points against the Los Angeles Lakers.
In 2014, Ray helped the Kings win the 2014 NBA Summer League championship and was named the MVP (Most Valuable Player) of the championship game.
Later, Ray played for the San Antonio Spurs and the Memphis Grizzlies. With the Spurs, he also spent time with their D-League team, the Austin Spurs. He was waived by the Spurs in February 2016. With the Grizzlies, he signed a short contract and played well, scoring 13 points in his first game with them.
