Raymond Gilmore Allen (born March 5, 1929 – died August 10, 2020) was an American actor. He was well-known for his roles on television shows in the 1970s.
Raymond Allen played important characters in popular TV series. He was Ned on Good Times. He also played Woodrow "Woody" Anderson, who was Aunt Esther's husband, on the NBC show Sanford and Son. Later, he played Woody again in the Sanford and Son spin-off called The Sanford Arms. He also appeared as Merle the Earl, a mechanic, on Starsky and Hutch. Raymond Allen also made guest appearances on other shows like The Jeffersons, What's Happening!!, and The Love Boat.
