Rebecca Chalker (born 1943) is a writer who focuses on health topics. She is also an activist who works for women's rights and has written several books about women's health.
Early Life and Education
Rebecca Chalker went to Florida State University in Tallahassee. She earned her first college degree in 1966 and a master's degree in 1975.
From 1966 to 1967, she was a teacher in Iran. She worked there as part of the Peace Corps, a program where Americans volunteer to help people in other countries. She taught at the Tehran School of Social Work.
Rebecca Chalker was an activist who spoke out about how the United States interacted with Iran. In 1979, she joined other activists in a protest at the Washington Monument. They displayed a banner to share their views on US policy. She also traveled to Tehran to support the Iranian Revolution, a big change in Iran's government. After returning to the United States, she continued to protest. She and another activist, Eileen Schnitger, raised awareness about their cause at a Women's National Powerlifting Championships event.
