Redmond "Red" Gerard (born June 29, 2000) is an American snowboarder. He is also a spokesperson for Toyota.

Red Gerard's Snowboarding Journey
Red Gerard is a talented snowboarder from the United States. He has won many competitions. These include World Cup events, X Games, and even an Olympic gold medal.
Early World Cup Success
Red Gerard started strong in the FIS Snowboard World Cup. In the 2016–17 season, he won the overall title for slopestyle. He earned a third-place finish at the Kreischberg World Cup. He also took first place at the Mammoth World Cup that year.
The next season, 2017–18, he placed second in a big air event in Milan. He then won first place in slopestyle at the Snowmass World Cup. Red has also won two more slopestyle World Cup events. These wins happened at the Mammoth World Cup in 2019 and 2022.
Other Big Wins
In 2019, Red Gerard won the Burton US Open in slopestyle. He also placed second in a big air World Cup event in Cardrona.
In 2020, he finished second at the Laax Open. He then won first place at the Dew Tour, both in slopestyle. He won the Dew Tour title again the following year, in 2021.
In 2022, Red Gerard came in second at the Aspen World Cup for slopestyle. He also earned two third-place finishes in World Cup big air events. These were in Edmonton and Copper.
In 2025, Red Gerard had two second-place finishes in slopestyle. These were at the Laax Open and the Calgary World Cup.
X Games Medals
Red Gerard has won three medals at the X Games for slopestyle. He earned a bronze medal in 2020. He then won two gold medals back-to-back in 2024 and 2025.
Olympic Adventures
Red Gerard has competed in two Winter Olympic Games.
2018 Winter Olympics
Red Gerard made his first Olympic appearance at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. He competed in both slopestyle and big air events. He won the gold medal in slopestyle.
His win was quite memorable for a few reasons. He overslept on the morning of the event. He had been watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine late the night before. He also lost his jacket and had to borrow one from his roommate. After his win, he accidentally used a bad word on live TV.
Red Gerard became the first Winter Olympian born in the 2000s to win a medal. He was also the first American to win a gold medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Plus, he was the youngest American to win a medal in a snowboarding event at the Olympics. Sports Illustrated had even predicted he would win the gold!
2022 Winter Olympics
Red Gerard competed for Team USA again at the 2022 Winter Olympics. He reached the slopestyle final. He just missed out on a medal, finishing in fourth place. He also competed in the big air event, where he placed fifth.
Red Gerard's Life Outside Snowboarding
Red Gerard was born and grew up in Ohio. Now, he lives in Silverthorne, Colorado. He even has his own small snowboarding park in his backyard. It has a rope tow to pull him up the hill!
Red Gerard has a sister named Tieghan Gerard. She is a well-known food blogger. Her blog is called Half Baked Harvest.
