The Redick Tower is a tall, eleven-story building in Omaha, Nebraska. You can find it at 1504 Harney Street. Since 2011, it has been known as the Hotel Deco XV. This important building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, which means it's recognized for its special history and design.
The building was designed by Joseph G. McArthur, an architect from Omaha. He used the Art Deco style, which was popular in the 1920s and 1930s. This style often features bold geometric shapes and rich decoration. The tower was named after the Redick family. They were early settlers in Omaha, arriving in 1856, and they owned the land where the building stands.
When it was first built, the Redick Tower was very modern. It had shops on the first floor. The next seven floors were used for parking, with space for up to 500 cars. Above the parking levels, there were offices. This mix of shops, parking, and offices in one building was quite new for its time.

History of the Redick Tower
The Redick Tower was built in 1930 for a company called Garrett and Agor, Inc. They managed the building for a few years.
Changes in Ownership
In the mid-1930s, the Redick Tower Corporation bought the building. Later, in 1943, an Omaha investor named Walter Duda became the owner. He kept it until 1973.
After that, the Parking Corporation of America, based in Denver, took over. The building then became a Radisson Hotel. Many people thought it was one of the best hotels in Omaha. Later, it operated as the Best Western Redick Plaza Hotel. It closed its doors in 2009.
New Life as Hotel Deco XV
In 2010, the White Lotus Group bought the Redick Tower. This group is part of the White Lotus Conglomerate. They worked to update the building. In 2011, it reopened as the Hotel Deco XV.
Why Redick Tower is Historic
In 1984, the Redick Tower was officially added to the National Register of Historic Places. It was recognized for two main reasons.
First, its original design was very special. It combined retail stores, offices, and parking all in one building. This was a unique idea for city buildings back then.
Second, the Redick Tower is a great example of the Art Deco style in Nebraska. Experts consider it one of the best buildings in the state that shows this architectural design.
