Redondo wine facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Redondo is a special area in Portugal known for making wine. It's located in the larger Alentejo region. Think of it like a specific neighborhood within a big city, but for wine!

For a long time, Redondo was recognized as a "Regulated Origin" area. This means its wines had to follow certain rules to be called "Redondo." Later, it became an even more important "Controlled Origin" area. In 2003, Redondo joined seven other areas to become part of the bigger Alentejo DOC (Denomination of Controlled Origin). Sometimes, you might see wines from this area called "Alentejo-Redondo."

Where is Redondo?

The Redondo wine region is surrounded by other wine areas. To the northeast, it borders the Borba region. To the west, you'll find the Evora region, and to the southeast, it's next to the Reguengos region. This area is most famous for its delicious, fruity red wines.
