Reeds Corners, Wisconsin facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Reeds Corners was a small community that used to exist in Wisconsin. It was located in the Town of Metomen, within Fond du Lac County, in the United States.

History of Reeds Corners

Reeds Corners was once a busy little place. In 1852, a post office was opened there, which was important for sending and receiving mail. A few years later, in 1857, a church called the "Second Congregational Church of Metomen" was started in the community.

At its busiest, Reeds Corners had different stores and shops. It also had a railroad depot, which was like a train station, and the post office. These were all important services for the people living nearby.

However, things changed in 1873. The railroad depot and the post office were moved to a nearby community, also called Metomen. This meant that Reeds Corners became much quieter and eventually stopped being an active community.

The name "Reeds Corners" came from an early settler named Warren Reed. He was one of the first people to live in that area.
