Reichman University is a special university in Israel. It's the only private university there. It's located in Herzliya, a city near Tel Aviv. The university started in 1994. Back then, it was called the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya, or IDC Herzliya. In 2021, it changed its name to Reichman University.
This university doesn't get money directly from the government. In August 2021, it became the first private university in Israel.

History of Reichman University
Reichman University was started in 1994 by a person named Uriel Reichman. It began as a private college called the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya (IDC Herzliya).
Campus Location and Past Use
The university campus is in the city of Herzliya, Israel. This city is about six miles north of Tel Aviv. The campus is built on what used to be a British Air Force base. This base was used by the first squadron of the Israeli air force for three months during Israel's War of Independence.
Early Developments and Changes
In 2009, a college fraternity called Alpha Epsilon Pi opened its first chapter in Israel at IDC. In 2012, there were some discussions about how the School of Sustainability was funded. Some people had concerns because major polluting companies were providing money.
In 2018, the college was allowed to offer special advanced courses for doctoral degrees. However, it was not yet allowed to call itself a "university." This changed in 2021, when it officially became Reichman University.
