Reidar Haaland (born 21 February 1919 – died 17 August 1945) was a police officer from Norway. He also volunteered to serve with German forces during World War II.
Haaland was born in Stavanger. In December 1940, he joined a political party called Nasjonal Samling. This party supported the German occupation of Norway during the war. In June 1941, he joined a group known as Den Norske Legion. This group was made up of Norwegians who chose to fight alongside the German army.
When Den Norske Legion stopped operating in 1943, Haaland began working for the police force in Oslo. Later that same year, he was transferred to a special police unit that worked closely with the German occupation forces.
After World War II ended, Reidar Haaland was put on trial. He was found responsible for serious actions that went against his country and harmed others during the war. He was the first Norwegian to receive the death sentence from the Supreme Court of Norway after the war. Reidar Haaland was executed by a firing squad on 17 August 1945, at Akershus Fortress in Oslo.
