Relief, Ohio facts for kids
Relief is a small place located in Washington County, in the U.S. state of Ohio. It is known as an "unincorporated community." This means it doesn't have its own local government, like a city or a town would.
How Relief Got Its Name
The community of Relief has an interesting story behind its name. In 1889, a post office was opened there. This was a very important event for the people living in the area.
Having a local post office meant that residents no longer had to travel far to send or receive mail. They felt a great sense of "relief" because their lives became much easier. Because of this feeling of happiness and ease, the community was named Relief.
The post office served the community for many years. However, it eventually closed its doors in 1924.
