María Dolores Amaya Vega (born on May 1, 1962, in Seville, Spain), is a famous Spanish singer. She is much better known by her stage name, Remedios Amaya. She is especially known for her unique flamenco music style.
Remedios Amaya became well-known to people around the world after her first album came out in 1978. She even represented Spain in a big music competition called the Eurovision Song Contest in 1983.

Who is Remedios Amaya?
Remedios Amaya was born in Seville, a city in southern Spain. From a young age, she showed a great talent for singing. She became a professional singer and chose the stage name Remedios Amaya. Her music is rooted in flamenco, a traditional Spanish art form that combines singing, guitar playing, and dancing.
Early Music Career
Remedios Amaya released her very first album in 1978. It was simply called Remedios Amaya. This album helped her become popular with audiences both in Spain and other countries.
Eurovision Song Contest 1983
In 1983, Remedios Amaya was chosen by the Spanish TV channel, Televisión Española, to represent Spain. She sang the song "¿Quién maneja mi barca?" at the Eurovision Song Contest 1983 in Munich. Although her performance was unique, she received "nul points", which means she got zero points from the judges. Even so, this performance made her even more famous.
Developing Her Sound
After Eurovision, Remedios Amaya continued to create new music. Her early albums, Luna nueva (released in 1983) and Seda en mi piel (released in 1984), showed a new style. This style mixed traditional flamenco with rock music, creating "flamenco-rock."
Popular Albums and Hit Songs
In 1997, Remedios Amaya released a very successful album called Me voy contigo. This album was produced by the famous musician Vicente Amigo. It sold more than 150,000 copies, which is a lot! The album included her biggest hit song, "Turu Turai."
She continued to release new music in the early 2000s. Her albums from this time include Gitana soy (2001) and Sonsonete (2002). In 2004, she released a collection of her best songs, called a "Greatest Hits" album.
Recent Work
Remedios Amaya released a new album in 2016 called Rompiendo el silencio. She continues to be an important voice in flamenco music.
