María Dolores Amaya Vega (born on May 1, 1962) is a famous Spanish singer. She is better known by her stage name, Remedios Amaya. She sings a special kind of Spanish music called flamenco.
Remedios Amaya became well-known when her first album came out in 1978. She also represented Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest 1983 in 1983.
Early Music Career
Remedios Amaya released her first album, also called Remedios Amaya, in 1978. This album helped her become popular with people around the world.
In 1983, she was chosen to sing for Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest. She performed the song "¿Quién maneja mi barca?" in Munich. She received "nul points," which means zero points, in the contest.
Later Albums and Hits
After Eurovision, Remedios Amaya continued to make music. Her early albums, Luna nueva (1983) and Seda en mi piel (1984), mixed flamenco with rock music. This style was called flamenco-rock.
In 1997, she released a very successful album called Me voy contigo. A famous musician named Vicente Amigo produced it. This album sold more than 150,000 copies! It included one of her biggest hit songs, "Turu Turai."
She released more albums like Gitana soy in 2001 and Sonsonete in 2002. In 2004, she put out a collection of her greatest hits. Her most recent album, Rompiendo el silencio, came out in 2016.
