He was also given the title of "Titular Bishop of Chonochora," which is an honorary title linked to an ancient church area. He officially became a bishop on July 31, 1963.

Leading the Diocese of Joliette

On January 3, 1968, René Audet was given a new and very important role. He was appointed as the main bishop of the Diocese of Joliette.
