Renata Muratovna Litvinova (born on January 12, 1967) is a talented Russian actress, film director, and screenwriter. She is known for her unique style and creative work in movies and theater.

About Renata Litvinova

Renata Litvinova was born in Moscow. Her parents were both doctors. They separated when Renata was very young.

After finishing school, Renata went to a famous film school called VGIK in 1984. She studied there and graduated in 1989. During her time at VGIK, she started working on her first film as a screenwriter. It was called The Much Loved Rita. The Last Meeting with Her (1988).

Her Career in Film

Becoming a Screenwriter

Renata Litvinova started her journey in film by writing screenplays. She wrote films from 1988 to 1998. One of her early works, Principled and Compassionate View (1995), won an award at the "Window to Europe" Film Festival. It was also shown at festivals in other countries like Japan and Germany.

A director named Kira Muratova discovered Renata in 1994. Muratova was impressed by a project Renata had written for her film school. They met at a festival, and Muratova decided she wanted Renata to act in one of her films. Renata wrote a special role for herself as a nurse in the film Passions (1994).

Renata continued to write screenplays. Her story Three Stories was made into a film in 1997, and she also acted in it. Another story she wrote, To Own and Belong, became the well-known film Country of the Deaf in 1998. In 2017, Renata also wrote and directed a play called "The North Wind" for the Moscow Art Theatre, where she also played the main role.

By 2022, Renata Litvinova had become one of Russia's top actresses in both TV and theater. In 2000, she became very popular for her role as Albino Crow in the TV series The Border. After this, she mostly acted in the films she wrote herself.

She gained more fame in the mid-2000s. She was nominated for awards for her roles in movies like Sky. Plane. Girl. (2002), The Tuner (2004), and I'm Not Hurt (2006). On stage, she played important roles in plays like "The Cherry Orchard" at the Moscow Chekhov Art Theatre.

Directing Films

Renata Litvinova has also directed many different types of films. She directed her first documentary film in 2000, called There is No Death For Me. This film explored the lives of her favorite actresses from the Soviet era.

Her first full-length movie as a director was The Goddess (2004), which she also wrote and starred in. In 2006, she directed a short film called Rado.

Renata also directed concert films. In 2008, she directed Green Theatre in Zemfira, which featured footage from a concert by her friend, the musician Zemfira Ramazanova. Renata has directed more than 15 music videos for Russian artists. Since 2005, she has often worked with Zemfira on these projects. In 2021, she directed a short film for the fashion brand Gucci.

Voice Acting

Renata Litvinova has also lent her voice to characters in films. She provided a voiceover for the character Xenia in the film $8.50 (1999). Her voice was also heard in other movies like Frog's Paradise (2007) and Peregrine (2008).
