Renate Birnstein began her musical journey by studying at the Hochschule fur Musik in Hamburg. She learned from famous teachers like Diether de la Motte and György Ligeti. In 1973, she earned her diplomas in both music composition and piano playing.
After finishing her studies, Ms. Birnstein started teaching music at the same school, the Hochschule fur Musik in Hamburg. Her hard work and talent were recognized when she won the prestigious Prix de Rome in 1983. This award is a big honor for artists. Renate Birnstein's music has been performed and enjoyed by audiences all around the world.
