René Amengual Astaburuaga (1911–1954) was a talented musician from Chile. He was a composer, a teacher, and a pianist. He is famous for writing the official song, or hymn, for the University of Chile.

A Famous Piece of Music

René Amengual wrote many musical pieces. One of his most important works was called Sextet. This piece was so good that it was chosen for a special event in 1953. It was featured at the Festival of Contemporary Music ISCM, which took place in Oslo, Norway. This was a big honor for a composer from Chile!
