Revaz "Rezo" Cheishvili (born April 24, 1933 – died September 11, 2015) was a famous writer and scriptwriter from the country of Georgia. He wrote many stories and films that are still loved today.

Early Life and School

Rezo Cheishvili was born in a city called Kutaisi, in Georgia, back in 1933. When he was 21, in 1954, he moved to Tbilisi, which is the capital city of Georgia. There, he went to Tbilisi State University. In 1958, he finished his studies. He earned a degree in Georgian language and literature, which means he learned a lot about his country's language and stories.

His Career as a Writer

Rezo Cheishvili had a long and exciting career. He worked in both film and literature, sharing his stories with many people.

Working in Film

From 1961 to 1992, Rezo Cheishvili worked at a place called 'Georgian Film' studio. He was a film editor, which means he helped put movie scenes together. He also helped decide which film ideas would be made into movies.

He was also a scriptwriter, meaning he wrote the stories for films. Some of his well-known films include My Friend Nodari, Samanishvili’s Stepmother, and the very popular The Blue Mountains. This last film was directed by a famous Georgian director named Eldar Shengelaia.

Writing Books and Stories

Besides films, Rezo Cheishvili wrote many short stories and novels. His books were published in different countries, allowing people all over the world to read his work. He also helped edit various Georgian magazines and newspapers that focused on literature.

Later Life

Rezo Cheishvili passed away in his home city of Kutaisi on September 11, 2015. He was 82 years old.
