The yellow-striped flutterer or yellow-barred flutterer (scientific name: Rhyothemis phyllis) is a beautiful type of dragonfly. It belongs to the Libellulidae family, which is a group of dragonflies often called "skimmers."
These dragonflies are found across many parts of South-east Asia and northern Australia. You can spot them in countries like Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Rhyothemis phyllis is a small to medium-sized dragonfly. It loves to live near open ponds, marshes, and swampy forests. You can easily recognize it by its unique, fluttering way of flying.
In Australia, there are two special types, or subspecies, of this dragonfly. They are called Rhyothemis phyllis chloe and Rhyothemis phyllis beatricis.
