Richard is a small, unincorporated community located in Calhoun County, Iowa, in the United States. An unincorporated community is a place that doesn't have its own local government, like a city or town. Instead, it's usually governed by the county it's in.
History of Richard
The community of Richard was officially created in June 1900. It was originally known as "Richards." The area was planned out and divided into lots, a process called "platting." This means they drew up maps showing where streets, homes, and other buildings could go.
The name "Richard" comes from its founders, E. A. and Bessie P. Richards. They were the people who helped establish this community.
