Richard Michael Brick (born September 20, 1945 – died April 2, 2014) was an American film producer. He also taught film at Columbia University. From 1992 to 1994, he was the Commissioner of New York City’s Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre & Broadcasting. Richard Brick was born in New York City, United States.

Richard Brick was well-known for his work as a film producer. A producer helps make sure a movie gets made. They manage the money and the people involved.
Working with Woody Allen
Brick produced three movies with famous director Woody Allen. These films were Deconstructing Harry, Celebrity, and Sweet and Lowdown.
Other Film Projects
He also helped make Arizona Dream, which was the only U.S. movie by director Emir Kusturica. Brick produced Caught for director Robert M. Young. He also produced Hangin' with the Homeboys by Joseph Vasquez.
Television Work
On television, Richard Brick was a senior producer for two special shows. These shows were for news anchor Peter Jennings. They were called The JFK Assassination - Beyond Conspiracy and UFOs: Seeing Is Believing.

Richard Brick had a long history with Columbia University. He studied film there and earned his M.F.A. degree in 1971. An M.F.A. stands for Master of Fine Arts. It is a special degree for artists.
Teaching Film
He later became a teacher at Columbia University. From 1987 to 1989, he was the chairman of the graduate film program. He also worked with famous director Miloš Forman. After that, he continued to teach film producing.
Creating the Film Festival
During his time at Columbia, Brick started the first Columbia University Film Festival. This festival helps new filmmakers show their work. In 2012, the festival celebrated its 25th year.
Leading New York City's Film Office
From 1992 to 1994, Richard Brick was the first Commissioner of the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting in New York City. Before him, the office had a Director, not a Commissioner.
Helping New York's Film Industry
He took on this role after many film studios stopped filming in New York City. This happened in 1990 and 1991. Brick helped bring film production back to the city.
Later Life and Family
Richard Brick passed away on April 2, 2014, when he was 68 years old. He died from esophageal cancer.
He was survived by his wife, Sara Bershtel. She is a publisher at Metropolitan Books.
