Richard Gibson, born on January 1, 1954, is a British actor. He is widely recognized for his role as Herr Otto Flick in the popular BBC comedy series 'Allo 'Allo!.

Early Life and Education
Richard Gibson was born in Kampala, Uganda. At that time, Uganda was under British rule. He later moved to the United Kingdom.
As a child, he was a chorister at St Paul's Cathedral in London. A chorister is a singer in a church choir. He attended St Paul's Cathedral School and then Radley College, which is a boarding school for boys. He also studied at the Central School of Speech and Drama, where he learned acting. Richard has shared that he sang at the funeral service for Sir Winston Churchill in 1965.
His Famous Role as Herr Flick
Richard Gibson became very well-known for playing Herr Otto Flick in the TV show 'Allo 'Allo!. This show was a comedy about World War II. Herr Flick was a secret police officer, known as a Gestapo officer.
His character, Herr Flick, always wore a long leather coat. He also had a stiff-legged limp and used a walking stick. In the show, Herr Flick was often trying to find a famous painting called The Fallen Madonna with the Big .... He also tried to impress Helga, who was the German town commandant's assistant.
Other Acting Roles and Work
After 'Allo 'Allo! finished its TV run, Richard Gibson joined the stage version of the show. They toured successfully in the United Kingdom and other countries. During these stage shows, he also showed off his talent for playing the violin.
Richard Gibson has acted in many other projects too. In 1971, he played Sunning in the BBC1 TV series Tom Brown's Schooldays. His first notable film role was in The Go Between (1971). He played Marcus Maudsley, a school friend who helped pass messages. He also appeared in the 1973 film England Made Me.
He has performed in various roles on stage and television. In 2003, he was a guest star in a Doctor Who audio drama called Flip-Flop.

Because 'Allo 'Allo! is still very popular, Richard Gibson and Kim Hartman (who played Helga) started a fan club. They also perform cabaret shows together. These shows feature songs and sketches where they act as their characters, Flick and Helga. In 2012, they were guest speakers on cruise ships. In 2014, they performed at the Malfest Arts Festival and the War and Peace Show. Richard Gibson also works as a radio actor, writes scripts, and does voiceovers.
