Richard Myddelton's Early Life
Richard Myddelton was born around 1509. He was the third son of Fulk Myddelton and Margaret Myddelton, whose maiden name was Smith. His father, Fulk, was a younger son of David Myddelton. David was in charge of collecting money for the King in Denbigh during the time of King Edward IV. Fulk also served as the governor of Denbigh Castle for many years.
Richard had a younger brother named Robert Myddelton. Robert also became a Member of Parliament (MP) for Denbigh Boroughs, just like Richard.
Richard's mother, Margaret, was the daughter of Thomas Smith from Chester. Her brother, Robert Smith, was also an MP for Carlisle.
Richard Myddelton's Career in Politics
When Richard's father passed away before March 1534, Richard might have taken over his father's role. This role was the governor of Denbigh Castle. Later, some of Richard's own sons would also hold this important position.
In 1542, Richard Myddelton became a Member of Parliament (MP). This meant he was chosen to represent Denbigh Boroughs in the Parliament of England. Parliament is a group of people who make laws for the country.

- William Myddelton (1556–1621): He was a poet and also worked as a seaman. He passed away in Antwerp in 1621.
- Sir Hugh Myddelton, 1st Baronet (1560–1631): He was a successful merchant and made clothes. King James VI and I even appointed him as the Royal Jeweller.
- Robert Myddelton (around 1563–1616): He also became an MP, representing Weymouth and Melcombe Regis and the City of London.
Richard Myddelton passed away either in 1577 or 1578.
