Richard Darío Núñez Pereyra, born on February 16, 1976, in Montevideo, Uruguay, is a retired football player. He was known for playing as a striker, playmaker, and left winger.
Playing Career
Richard started his professional football journey in his home city, Montevideo, playing for a team called Danubio. In 2000, he moved to Europe to play for Grasshopper Club Zürich in Switzerland. He did really well there, scoring many goals and helping his team with lots of assists.
In January 2005, Richard joined Atlético de Madrid in Spain. He played his first game for them on January 29, 2005, against Albacete Balompié.
Time in Mexico
On August 13, 2005, Richard moved to Mexico and joined Cruz Azul. He had an amazing start, scoring four goals in his very first match against Tecos UAG. Later, he played for C.F. Pachuca.
After a successful time with Pachuca, he returned to Cruz Azul in May 2006, signing a two-year contract. On January 3, 2008, he moved to Club América, which was a rival team to Cruz Azul.
Richard played his last game for América in the first part of the 2008 Copa Libertadores semi-finals. He could not play in the second part due to illness.
