Richard Simmons was born in a village called Bridge, Kent in England, in October 1737. He also passed away in Bridge in November 1802. We first know about him playing cricket in 1772, when he was 34 years old.
Playing for Different Teams
Richard Simmons played in 13 important cricket matches between 1772 and 1779. These matches are now called "first-class cricket" games. From 1773 to 1775, he played six times for teams from Kent. Later, between 1778 and 1779, he played twice for teams from Surrey. He also played for England teams in four matches.
