Richard Tambling was born on September 12, 1986. He is a former professional Australian rules football player. He played for two teams in the Australian Football League (AFL): the Richmond Football Club and the Adelaide Football Club.

Early Life and Football Start
Richard Tambling grew up in the Northern Territory of Australia. Until he was 13, he lived in a remote Indigenous community. After that, he moved to Jabiru inside Kakadu. English was not his first language.
As a teenager, Richard moved to Darwin, Northern Territory to live with his grandmother. This is when he started taking football more seriously. He joined the NT Thunder program, which helps young players develop. He also played in national championships for younger players.
Richard was known for his amazing speed and how well he could understand the game. Scouts noticed his talent during the 2004 pre-season. Many experts thought he was one of the best young players in the country.
In the 2004 AFL Draft, Richard was chosen as the fourth player overall. He was drafted by the Richmond Football Club.
AFL Career Highlights
Playing for Richmond (2005-2010)
Richard played in 12 games during his first year in the 2005 AFL season. He played even more games, 21, in the 2006 AFL season. In late 2005, he had some injuries, including a broken toe and a hamstring problem.
By 2009, Richard faced some challenges with his performance. In one game, he made some mistakes that led to the other team getting the ball. His coach later explained that Richard had just become a father, which affected his sleep. After this, Richard was not chosen for the next game.
However, he worked hard and returned to play some of his best football. He showed the skills that everyone expected from him. He played very well in games against Sydney, Fremantle, and the West Coast Eagles.
Moving to Adelaide (2011-2013)
On October 6, 2010, Richard moved to the Adelaide Crows team. He played 16 AFL matches for them over three years. At the end of the 2013 season, he left the team.
Playing in State Leagues
After his time in the AFL, Richard continued to play football. He played for the Sturt team in the SANFL league. Later, he joined the NT Thunder team. He played for them in the NEAFL in 2015, 2016, and 2017.
Personal Life
Richard is an Indigenous Australian. His family history can be traced back to the Woolna people, a tribe from the Northern Territory.
