Ride a Wild Pony is an exciting family adventure film from 1975. It was made by Walt Disney Productions and directed by Don Chaffey. The movie is based on a book called A Sporting Proposition by James Aldridge. It tells a heartwarming story about friendship and a special horse.
What's the Movie About?
The story takes place in a small Australian town. This was a long time ago, between the two big World Wars. The film follows two children, Scott and Josie, who both love the same horse.
Scott is a boy from a farm who doesn't have much money. He needs a horse to ride seven miles to school every day. His father buys him a wild pony, which Scott names Taff.
Josie is the daughter of a rich ranch owner. Two years before the story, she got sick with polio. This made it hard for her to walk. She really wants to ride a horse again. Because of her illness, she uses a cart pulled by a pony.
The Missing Pony
One day, Scott's pony, Taff, disappears. Later, Josie's father chooses a pony for her from his large group of horses. Josie names her new pony Bo.
At the town fair, Scott sees Josie's pony performing in a competition. He immediately knows it's his missing horse, Taff. Scott tries to take the pony back, which causes a big argument.
A Town Divided
This fight over the pony affects both children deeply. It also causes problems and divides the whole town. Everyone has an opinion about who should own the horse.
Even though they start as rivals, Scott and Josie eventually become friends. The question of who owns the pony goes to court to be decided legally. In the end, they come up with a clever plan. They agree to share the pony between them. This way, both children get to spend time with the horse they love.
