A Look at Rimrock's Past

How Rimrock Got Started

Rimrock began as a stop along the Great Northern Railroad. This was a very important train line that helped people and goods travel across the country. The place got its name from a special cliff made of sandstone that was right next to it. Imagine a tall, rocky wall – that's a "rimrock"!

What Rimrock Looks Like Today

Today, the Rimrock area is not open for people to visit. This includes the road called 72nd Street West. The land there is mostly used for farming. If you were to visit, you would only see a few trees and what's left of the old train tracks. The tracks are not used anymore.

Much of the old site is hidden from view because of a tall mound of earth from the railroad. But you can get a good look at the area from Philps Park. This park is located on the cliffs right above where Rimrock used to be.
