Rincón de Guayabitos is a fun beach town in Nayarit, Mexico. People often just call it Guayabitos. It's a popular spot for vacations because its ocean waves are usually calm and gentle. The town is also easy to reach from big cities like Tepic and Guadalajara.

Guayabitos has about two kilometers (about 1.2 miles) of beautiful beachfront. Because so many people love to visit, it can sometimes be hard to find a hotel room. Also, there are many street vendors selling things on the beach. Guayabitos is very close to another smaller beach town called Los Ayala, which is just two kilometers north.

Rincón de Guayabitos means "Corner of the Small Guava Trees." This beach community is loved for its calm waves and good prices. It's about 98 kilometers (61 miles) from Tepic, the state capital, and 220 kilometers (137 miles) from Guadalajara.

Many places to stay here are cabins or hotel rooms with kitchens. They are often painted in bright, happy colors. Visitors enjoy buying fresh seafood and other foods to cook at their hotel or right on the beach. Fishermen sell their catch early in the morning. You can find fish like dorados, mojarras, and red snapper.

Fun Things to Do in Guayabitos

There are many exciting activities to enjoy in Guayabitos. You can go swimming in the gentle ocean waves. Sometimes, you can even see baby sea turtles being released into the ocean. Boat tours are also available for whale watching, which is amazing!

Guayabitos also hosts some cool events. One event is called "Paraiso del Sol 99," organized by the Universidad de Guadalajara. It includes exciting competitions like mountain biking and a biathlon, which combines two sports. Another event is the "Acuatlon," where people run three kilometers, swim one kilometer, and then run another three kilometers. There's also the "Aquathon," which is a long six-kilometer swimming event.

Challenges Guayabitos Faces

Guayabitos is very popular, especially because it's close to big cities. This means that hotels can get fully booked months ahead of time. It has one of the highest hotel occupancy rates in Mexico! Because of this, many families like to camp right on the beach.

However, camping on the beach can sometimes cause problems. Hotels and other businesses near the beach have complained about trash left by campers. They also mention noise and people drinking too much alcohol in public.

Another challenge is the large number of street vendors. These vendors sell fresh fish, juices, bread, milk, and prepared foods to tourists right on the beach and streets. Only about a quarter of the estimated 1,200 vendors are officially registered with the local government. In 2014, the community joined a national program to help organize the businesses in the beach area.
