Rita Forst (born March 31, 1955) is a talented German engineer. She is known for her work in the car industry. She held important leadership roles at General Motors Europe (GM Europe).
Early Life and Education
Rita Forst was born in Wiesbaden, a city in western Germany. She grew up in the state of Hesse.
She decided to study engineering. She went to Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. There, she focused on Mechanical Engineering. This field teaches how to design and build machines.
Her Career in Engineering
Rita Forst began her engineering career in 1977. She spent many years working with cars and engines.
Working at General Motors
In 1997, Rita Forst became a Project Manager. This means she led a team working on a big project. Her project was to develop a new series of engines called the GM Family II engine. She also worked on the GM Ecotec engine, which is known for being efficient.
Later, in 2005, a new part of GM was started in Turin, Italy. It was called GM Powertrain Torino. This division focuses on making car engines and transmissions. In September 2005, Rita Forst became the Executive Director of Product Engineering for GM Powertrain Europe. This was a very important job. She was in charge of how new car parts were designed and developed.
From 2010 to 2012, she led all engineering and research for GM Europe. She helped create new technologies for cars. She also worked for Opel, which is a car brand owned by General Motors.
