Where the River Rhaeadr Begins
The River Rhaeadr starts its journey at a very special place: the Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall. This amazing waterfall is just a few miles from the village of Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant.
The Waterfall's Story
At Pistyll Rhaeadr, another river called the Afon Disgynfa drops over a huge cliff. This cliff is about 240 feet (73 meters) tall! After the water crashes down, the river changes its name and becomes known as the Afon Rhaeadr.
The River's Journey
From the waterfall, the Afon Rhaeadr flows downstream. It continues its path until it meets another river. The River Rhaeadr eventually flows into the Afon Tanat. This is where its journey ends as it joins a larger river system.
