Pistyll Rhaeadr is a beautiful waterfall in Wales. Its name means "waterfall (of) Rhaeadr" in Welsh. You can find it about 4 miles (6.4 km) from the village of Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant in Powys. It's also about 16 miles (26 km) west of Oswestry.

What Makes Pistyll Rhaeadr Special?
How the Waterfall is Formed
Pistyll Rhaeadr is created by the Afon Disgynfa river. The word disgynfa itself means "waterfall." The river tumbles down a tall cliff in three main parts, or stages. This cliff is made of very old rock from the Silurian period. The total height of the waterfall is about 240 feet (73 meters). The tallest single drop is around 130 feet (40 meters). After the water falls, the river changes its name to the Afon Rhaeadr.

This amazing waterfall is considered one of the Seven Wonders of Wales. It is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest. This means the area is protected because it has special plants, animals, or geology. Many people visit to see its natural beauty.

It falls in three stages, not one single drop. Also, other waterfalls like the Devil's Appendix and Pistyll y Llyn are actually taller, both in total height and in their longest single drop.
