Acting Career Highlights

When Rob Brown was 16, he tried out for the movie Finding Forrester. He thought he would just be an extra in the background. But the director, Gus Van Sant, saw something special in him. Gus Van Sant chose Rob to play the main character, Jamal Wallace.

Brown made his acting debut in this 2000 film. He acted alongside famous actor Sean Connery. Critics really liked Rob's performance. Some even said he shined brighter than his experienced co-star. People noted how well he acted next to Connery and how good their on-screen connection was.

The next year, he appeared in the dance movie Take the Lead. He played a high school student named Jason "Rock" Rockwell. This movie featured Antonio Banderas and Alfre Woodard. In 2008, Brown played the real-life football player Ernie Davis in The Express: The Ernie Davis Story.

Rob Brown got his first TV role in 2010. He played a jazz musician named Delmond Lambreaux in the show Treme. He stayed on the show until it ended in 2013. What Happened at Macy's?

In 2013, Rob Brown was involved in an incident at a Macy's store in New York City. He was buying a watch for his mother. Store staff thought his credit card might be fake. They called the police, and he was arrested. However, it turned out his American Express card was real. He was released, and no charges were filed against him.

It seemed that Macy's staff became suspicious. This might have been because of the watch's price, his age, or his background. But they did not properly check his credit card with American Express or look at his driver's license. Rob Brown later reached an agreement with Macy's and New York City about this incident.
