Robbie Miller's Music Journey
Starting His Music Days
Robbie Miller first started playing the guitar in 2002. Soon after, he began writing and recording his own songs. He loved music so much that he studied it at the Queensland University of Technology. He finished his music studies in 2010.
In 2013, Robbie released two songs: "Don't Go Walking Away" and "Oh Lord." That same year, he won the Triple J Unearthed National Indigenous Winner award. This award is a big deal for new Indigenous artists. Winning helped him join the band The Paper Kites on their tour. His song "Don't Go Walking Away" was also played on radio stations all over Australia.
Robbie spent a lot of time in 2014 and 2015 working on his first collection of songs, called an EP. It was named The Faster The Blood Slows.
Releasing More Music
In October 2014, Robbie released "Sunday." This was the first song from his EP. The full EP, The Faster The Blood Slows, came out in October 2015. At the same time, he released another song from it called "The Pain."
In 2016, Robbie released two more songs, "Road" and "Fire." These were from his second EP, which was called Closer to Home.
Robbie won another award at the APRA Music Awards of 2017. His song "The Pain" was named the Blues & Roots Work of the Year. This was a great achievement for him.
His First Album: Little Love
In 2019, Robbie started releasing new songs for his first full album. These songs included "The Come Down" and "Show Your Skin." He released "Bitterness" in April 2020.
His debut album, Little Love, finally came out in February 2021. Robbie worked with producer Alex Henriksson and sound engineer Matt Neighbour on the album.
Robbie shared that making Little Love was very personal for him. He said that every word and melody in the album was true to his life. He explained that the album covered his life over the past three years. He felt it was the most honest music he had ever made. He had to face some hard truths about himself. He learned to accept who he was and who he wasn't, even when it was difficult.
