Robert Irwin Chartoff (born August 26, 1933 – died June 10, 2015) was a famous American film producer. He was also known for his charity work. Robert Chartoff helped create many movies, including the very popular Rocky film series.

Robert Chartoff's Early Life and Education
Robert Chartoff was born on August 26, 1933, in New York City. His parents were Bessie and William Chartoff. His family was Jewish.
He went to Union College and finished in 1955. After that, he studied law at Columbia University Law School.
A Career in Movies
Robert Chartoff produced more than 30 movies during his career. He is best known for the Rocky boxing movies.
He and another producer, Irwin Winkler, won a big award. They received an Academy Award for Best Picture for the first Rocky movie in 1976. This award is one of the highest honors in filmmaking.
Some of the other well-known films he produced include Raging Bull, The Right Stuff, and Creed.
Helping Others: Philanthropy
Robert Chartoff cared a lot about helping others. In 1990, he started the RC Charitable Foundation. This foundation gives money to schools around the world. It also supports other groups that help children.
He was the President of this foundation. The RC Charitable Foundation also gives money to the Buddha Educational Trust. He also helped advise the Younes and Soraya Israel Studies Center at UCLA.

Robert Chartoff was married three times. His first wife was Phyllis Raphael. They had three children together: Jenifer, William, and Julie. They later divorced.
In 1970, he married a British actress named Vanessa Howard. They had one son, Charley. This marriage also ended in divorce.
His last wife was Jenny Weyman. They had one daughter, Miranda. Robert Chartoff passed away in 2015 at his home in Santa Monica, California. He died from pancreatic cancer.
