Sir Robert Paul Cohan (March 27, 1925 – January 2021) was an important dancer and choreographer. He was born in New York City, USA. He later became a British citizen.
Sir Robert was known for starting major dance organizations in London. He was the first artistic director of The Place, the London Contemporary Dance School, and the London Contemporary Dance Theatre (LCDT). He led the LCDT for 20 years.
He worked with the famous dancer Martha Graham. In 2019, he was made a knight by the Queen for his great contributions to dance. This is a special honor. Sir Robert Cohan passed away in January 2021 when he was 95 years old.
