Captured in Battle
In 1296, a big battle happened at Dunbar. Robert Comyn was involved in this fight. Sadly, he was captured during the battle. His brother, Alexander, and his nephew, John, were also captured. They were all taken away and held as prisoners.
A Tragic Meeting
On February 10, 1306, a very important meeting took place. It was held at the Greyfriars Church in Dumfries, Scotland. The meeting was between Robert the Bruce and Robert's nephew, John Comyn of Badenoch.
During this meeting, a serious argument broke out between Robert the Bruce and John Comyn. Robert the Bruce attacked John Comyn. Soon after, Bruce's friends rushed into the church. They also attacked John Comyn, and he died.
Robert Comyn, seeing his nephew in trouble, tried to help him. However, Robert the Bruce's brother-in-law, Christopher Seton, attacked Robert Comyn. Robert Comyn was also attacked and died during this event.
