Robert Craven (born December 3, 1674 – died November 15, 1710) was a British politician from a long time ago. He was a member of the Tory party. In 1710, he was chosen to be a Member of Parliament (MP) for the city of Coventry.

Robert Craven's Early Life

His Family and Education

Robert Craven was the fourth son of Sir William Craven and his wife, Margaret Clapham. His older brother, William Craven, became the 2nd Baron Craven in 1697.

Robert went to Christ Church, Oxford, a famous university, in 1693. Later, in 1696, he joined the Middle Temple. This was a place where people studied to become lawyers.

Becoming a Member of Parliament

Robert Craven first tried to become an MP for Coventry in the 1708 election. He didn't win that time.

However, he tried again in the 1710 election. This time, he was very successful and was elected as the MP for Coventry. He received the most votes!

Sadly, Robert Craven became very sick with smallpox. This happened before he could even start his job in the new House of Commons. He passed away on November 15, 1710. He was buried in Binley, Coventry.
