Robert Osterloh's Early Life
Robert Osterloh was the son of Dr. Charles T. Osterloh and Emma Geiselhart Osterloh. When he was a student at Perry High School, he was very active. He was the president of the student council. He also led the school's Dramatic Club. Robert even played the main role in his school's senior play.
Robert Osterloh's Acting Career
Robert Osterloh was discovered by an agent while acting in a type of theater called stock theater. This is where actors perform different plays often. His first big movie role was in The Dark Past (1948).
Robert continued acting for two decades, mostly in the 1950s. He played roles in many films. These included Illegal Entry (1949) and White Heat (1949). He also appeared in One Minute to Zero (1952) and Star in the Dust (1956). One of his later films was Young Dillinger (1965). His very last movie was Coogan's Bluff (1968).
Robert Osterloh on Television
Robert Osterloh was in the first episodes of two famous TV shows. He appeared in the pilot for Perry Mason. This episode, "The Case of the Moth-Eaten Mink," aired in 1957. Robert played a restaurant owner named Morey Allen.
He was also in "The Scarface Mob." This was the pilot for The Untouchables. It aired in 1959 on Westinghouse Desilu Playhouse. In this show, Robert was part of the Federal team. This team was led by Eliot Ness, played by Robert Stack.
Robert Osterloh also had roles in other popular TV series. These included Wagon Train, The FBI, Ironside, and Hec Ramsey.
