Robert Parker, Jr. was born in Mobile, Alabama. He grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana. He started his music career playing the saxophone. In 1949, he played with the famous musician Professor Longhair on his song "Mardi Gras in New Orleans."
Playing with Famous Musicians
During the 1950s, Robert Parker played the alto and tenor saxophone. He performed with many popular musicians from New Orleans. He also played on records for other R&B artists who visited the city. Some of these artists included Solomon Burke and Otis Redding.
His Big Hit: "Barefootin'"
