Park History
How Robertson Park Started
Robertson Park has an interesting history! A rich family called the Robertsons gave the land for the park to the town of Renfrew in 1912. They wanted to create a fun, open space for kids and families in Renfrew. The park was named after the Robertson family. It officially opened its gates in October 1912. Today, Renfrewshire Council takes care of the park.
Celebrating 100 Years
In October 2012, the park celebrated a big birthday – 100 years old! To mark this special occasion, a new oak tree was planted. Renfrewshire’s Deputy Provost John Caldwell and a group of local school children were there for the planting ceremony. They even used a special spade! This spade was the same one the Robertson family used to plant the very first tree in the park back in 1912. It was borrowed from the Renfrew Community Museum for the event.
