Robin Owain's Writing
In 1991, Robin Owain won the chair at the National Eisteddfod of Wales. This event took place in Mold. He won for a poem titled "Awdl Foliant Merch ein Hamserau", which means "The Girl of Our Times".
His poems have been read on TV by the actor Rhys Ifans. However, Robin himself prefers not to be interviewed by the media. In 1996, he put a collection of his poems online. This book was called "Rebel ar y We" (Rebel on the Web). It was one of the first Welsh language books published on the internet. Later, its name was changed to "Rhedeg ar Wydyr" (Running on Glass).
Songs and Music
Robin Owain has also written for television and radio shows. He has written and published more than 100 songs. Sometimes, he works with his friend, the singer Rhys Meirion.
Famous singer Bryn Terfel has performed a song called "Brenin y Ser". This song means "The King of The Stars". Robin wrote it with the composer Robat Arwyn. Another song they wrote together is "Pedair Oed". This song was recorded in 2004 by Côr Rhuthun and Rhys Meirion.

Before his work with Wikimedia, Robin Owain was a head teacher. He taught at schools like Ysgol Glan Morfa in Abergele and Ysgol Llangwm. In the early 1990s, he also served as the mayor of Ruthin. This means he was a leader in his local community.
Wikimedia Projects
On July 1, 2013, Robin Owain became the first Wales Manager for Wikimedia UK. He worked with Wici Cymru, which is the Welsh Wikimedia group. His main goal was to help grow the Welsh Wikipedia (Wicipedia Cymraeg ).
As part of this effort, the Welsh Assembly helped pay for training new editors. These new editors learned how to write and improve articles on the Welsh Wikipedia. This helped more people access information in the Welsh language.
