The Robinhood Free Meetinghouse is a special old building in Georgetown, Maine. It was built way back in 1856. This building is a great example of a style called Greek Revival architecture. What makes it extra unique is that its main worship area, called the sanctuary, was on the second floor. Most churches usually have their main area on the first floor. In 2016, this historic building was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This means it's recognized as an important place in history. Recently, it has been changed into a restaurant.

About the Robinhood Free Meetinghouse
The Robinhood Free Meetinghouse is located in a quiet, countryside part of Georgetown. You can find it where Robinhood Road and Webber Road meet. It's a two-story building made of wood. It has a pointed roof and its outside walls are covered with overlapping wooden boards, called clapboards.
What Does It Look Like?
The front of the building is very balanced. It has two doors, one on each side. In the middle, there's a square window with many small glass panes. Above that, there's another window that slides up and down. The corners of the building have flat, column-like decorations called pilasters. These go up to a decorative band and a triangular shape at the top, like a classic Greek temple. There's also an open porch with a railing that stretches across most of the front.
Inside the Meetinghouse
When the building was first used, the first floor had three small rooms at the front. There was also a larger open room at the back. This back room was used as a classroom. The main worship area, the sanctuary, is on the second floor. It still has its original wooden benches, called pews, and other features from the 1800s.
A Place for Community
The Robinhood Free Meetinghouse was built in 1856. It was a shared space for two different church groups: the Methodists and the Congregationalists. The downstairs area was used for meetings and as a classroom for religious lessons.
A person named Moses Riggs designed the church. He was part of a well-known local family. The land for the church was given by Herbert Low and Francis Low, Jr. The Congregationalist group stopped using the church in 1864. However, the Methodist group continued to use it for about 100 more years! After that, the building became privately owned. As mentioned, it has now been changed into a restaurant.
