Rocío Monasterio San Martín (born 4 February 1974) is an architect, businesswoman, and politician from Spain and Cuba. She was a leader for the Vox political party in Madrid. She also served as a member of the Assembly of Madrid until October 10, 2024. At that time, she left her political roles.

Early Life and Education
Rocío Monasterio was born on February 4, 1974. Her family has roots in Cuba, where her ancestors were large landowners. Some of her family's properties were taken by the government in the 1960s. This led some family members to move to Spain. Her father later opened the first KFC restaurant in Spain.
Monasterio began studying architecture in 1992 at the Higher Technical School of Architecture of Madrid (ETSAM). She focused on designing buildings and turning properties into high-end homes. She earned her architecture degree in 2009.
Career in Architecture
Rocío Monasterio specialized in urban design during her architecture studies. In 1997, she won an award from Otis International for her design of 3,000 homes in Hong Kong. In 2000, she started her own architecture company called Rocío Monasterio and Associates. She also appeared on TV shows to talk about current events, especially those related to Cuba.
Political Career
Rocío Monasterio joined the Vox party in 2014. She became the president of Vox Madrid. She also served as the party's vice-secretary for Social Matters.
In 2021, Monasterio ran as the Vox candidate in the regional election for Madrid. She has spoken at events for the group HazteOir, which means "Make Yourself Heard."
Political Views

She sees herself as a feminist, similar to thinkers from the 1800s. However, she is against what she calls "radical feminism." She believes it can be harmful to traditional families. Monasterio wants to change laws about violence against women. She suggests new laws that would protect any family member who is a victim of violence.
Monasterio is against the practice of surrogacy. She believes that marriage should only be between a man and a woman. She has also suggested moving the Madrid Gay Pride Parade, which is one of the largest in Europe, from the city center to a park.
She has expressed doubts about climate change. She believes that people who have entered the country without permission should be sent back. She also thinks that criminals should receive life sentences in prison.
Internationally, Monasterio is part of the Madrid Forum. This is a group organized by Vox that includes right-wing and far-right individuals from different countries. Monasterio has spoken out against the government in Cuba. She has also criticized immigration from African countries. However, she supports immigration from Venezuela and Cuba, saying that people from these countries are escaping difficult situations.
Personal Life
Rocío Monasterio married real estate developer Iván Espinosa de los Monteros on May 15, 2001. They have four children together. As an architect, she designed the house where her family moved in 2012.
