Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Rochester is a small place located in Noble County, in the U.S. state of Ohio. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it doesn't have its own local government, like a city or a village would. Instead, it's managed by the county.

The Story of Rochester

Rochester was first planned and settled in 1841. This is when people decided where the streets and buildings would be.

For a long time, Rochester had its own post office. This post office was opened in 1851, but it had a different name: Nobleville. The Nobleville post office helped people send and receive letters and packages for many years, until it closed down in 1904.
