Rock Lake is a large, man-made lake in southwestern Manitoba, Canada. It is the second biggest lake you can navigate in this part of Manitoba. The lake is about 8 miles (13 km) (13 km) long and 0.75 miles (1.21 km) (1.2 km) wide. Its total surface area is about 6.6 square miles (17 km2) (17 km²).

Rock Lake is not very deep. Its average depth is 2.5 metres (8 ft 2 in) (8.2 ft). The deepest part is about 3.5 metres (11 ft) (11.5 ft) when the water level is at 405.08 metres (1,329.0 ft) (1,329 ft). The lake's water level is usually kept at this height in the summer.

Several waterways feed into Rock Lake. The main ones are the Pembina River and Badger Creek. Water from an area of 4,680 square kilometres (1,810 sq mi) (1,807 sq mi) drains into the lake.

This lake has been a popular spot for fun activities for over 100 years. People love to visit for boating, fishing, and many other water sports. Many families also own cottages or homes near the lake.

Where is Rock Lake?

Rock Lake is located in a rural area of Manitoba. It is about 4.4 kilometres (2.7 mi) (2.7 mi) south of a small town called Glenora. The lake is also about 15.7 kilometres (9.8 mi) (9.8 mi) west of Pilot Mound, Manitoba.

Pilot Mound is a town that is about a two-hour drive southwest of Winnipeg. Rock Lake is found within the areas managed by the Rural Municipalities of Roblin and Argyle.

Rock Lake Dam

A special concrete dam was built on the Pembina River in 1940. This dam is located about a mile east of Rock Lake. Its main job is to help keep the lake's water level as close as possible to 405.08 metres (1,329.0 ft) (1,329 ft). This helps make sure the lake is always ready for all the fun activities people enjoy there.
