Rockcastle, once known as Rock Castle, is a small place in Trigg County, Kentucky, United States. It is an unincorporated community. This means it does not have its own local government, like a city or town. Instead, it is managed by the county.
The Story of Rockcastle
A post office served the Rockcastle area for many years. It was open from 1839 until 1915. The community got its name from a cool rock formation nearby. This rock formation was called Castle Rock because it looked like a castle.
During a war, Rockcastle was damaged by fire. This happened for important reasons related to the fighting. Today, the original location of Rockcastle is no longer visible. It now lies underwater, beneath Lake Barkley.
