Rockland, Kentucky facts for kids
Rockland is a small, unincorporated community located in Warren County, in the U.S. state of Kentucky. An unincorporated community is a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or a town. Instead, it's usually managed by the larger county government.
The Story of Rockland
Rockland has a bit of history, even though it's a small place. A post office was opened there in 1875. This was an important place for people to send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the community for many years before it closed down in 1916.
How Rockland Got Its Name
The name "Rockland" is quite simple to understand! The community was named because of a special rock formation. There was a large rock outcropping (which means a part of a rock that sticks out of the ground) very close to where the original community was located. This natural feature gave the area its unique name.
