How Rockview Got Its Name
Rockview got its name because of the rocks! There were many rock formations, called "outcroppings," near where the community first started. These rocky areas were a notable feature of the landscape.
Early Services in Rockview
A special building called a post office was opened in Rockview in 1901. A post office is where people can send and receive mail. This post office helped the community for many years, staying open until 1915.
The 2013 Train Incident
On May 25, 2013, an important event happened in Rockview. A train crash occurred where two trains hit each other. This accident caused seven people to get hurt. The collision also damaged a highway overpass in Rockview, which is a bridge that carries a road over another road or, in this case, over train tracks. Twelve train cars from the Union Pacific Railroad also went off their tracks, which is called derailing.
