He won seven Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world titles between 1999 and 2006. Four of these were from the IBJJF, and three were from the CBJJO.

In 2006, Comprido started training UFC fighter Brock Lesnar. With Lesnar's encouragement, he opened his own academy in 2011. Around that time, he also became a spokesperson for Greatmats, a company that sells martial arts mats.

Comprido has trained many world champions. These include Brock Lesnar (UFC Heavyweight), Demian Maia (ADCC), Cole Konrad (Bellator Heavyweight), Caio Terra (IBJJF), Roberto Traven (IBJJF), Felipe Costa (IBJJF), Dean Lister (ADCC), and Jessica Buchman (IBJJF).
